Focus and Scope

THE PRACTITIONER SCHOLAR: JOURNAL OF COUNSELING AND PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY (PSJCPP) is dedicated to publishing manuscripts concerned with clinical practice, current professional and scientific issues, new techniques and innovative approaches, training, education and research related to counseling, professional and applied psychology and related behavioral sciences.  PS:JCAPP is the official journal of the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences of Argosy University.

Peer Review Process

PSJCPP is a peer-reviewed journal. Each mansucript submission is generally sent to three reviewers. The reviewers are selected based on their knowledge of the conent, methodology and profession. Reviewers are asked to critique the manuscript for Quality of Organization, Quality of Concepts, Relevant Conclusions/Summary, Quality of Research, Appropriate Analysis, Technical Accuracy, Documentation of Sources/References, Quality of Writing, and APA Formatting. Reviewers are alloted one month to crititque the manuscript. The reviewers will recommend 1. Acceptance, 2. Acceptance conditional on satisfactory revision, 3. Rejection encouraging revision and resubmission or 4. Rejection.  If at least two reviewers recommend Acceptance, the manuscript will be sent to a technical editor for review.  The author will then receive the comments form the reviewers as well as the technical editor and given time to make revisions.  If the manuscript receives two ormore Rejections, the manuscript will be returned to the author with comments from the reviewers.


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. After approximetely a year from publication on this site, articles are indexed through EBSCO host as well.



This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
